Is Karan Johar really planning a sequel to Student Of The Year?

The stylish director is keen to cash in on the success of his glossy college drama starring Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra

If the collective hysteria generated by Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt – the young trio of Karan Johar’s high on gloss film Student Of The Year – is anything to go by, then we must admit that KJo knows how to keep the younger generation entertained. The 40-year-old is happy with the reception his production has received and also pleased about the fact that he has launched three new stars in the process.

Karan, we hear, has been inundated with requests for more. People have been clamouring for the director to make a sequel to SOTY. And guess what!? KJo has given his nod to these appeals. “For all those asking….definitely planning #SOTY2….Dharma plans to make it a franchise and launch new talent with it each time,” tweeted Karan.

What that means is that we have to bear with more dramatic, over-the-top mush and high-on-gloss love stories with a generous dose of toned bods and style-addicted characters showing it all off in the days to come. It just can’t get any better than that. Right, Karan?
