Ayushmann Khurrana’s madcap comedy has raked in Rs 12 crores, while Vidyut Jamwal’s action extravaganza earned Rs 11 crores at the Box Office
This weekend might have been a rather pleasant one for the makers and actors of both Nautanki Saala and Commando, as the two films managed torake in decent moolah at the box office in the opening weekend.
Rohan Sippy’s madcap comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Pooja Salvi collected Rs 3.25 crores in the urban centres on Friday. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#NautankiSaala Fri 3.25 cr. Picked up at plexes of urban centres.” Saturday too, the movie fared well due to strong word of mouth and decent reviews in the press, and the collections jumped to Rs 4.25 crores. On Sunday it did even better business and collected Rs 4.5 crores bringing the total BO opening weekend collections to a cool Rs 12 crores. With a budget of 15 crores, and no other movie releasing the coming week, Nautanki Saala may well turn out to be profitable for its producers.
Vipul Shah’s Commando starring Vidyut Jamwal and Pooja Chopra, on the other hand, did well in single screen theatres as it opened strong and managed to collect Rs 3.75 crores on Friday and an additional Rs 3.39 crores on Saturday. Taran said, “#Commando Fri 3.75 cr. Excellent at single screens of mass circuits.” With Sunday’s collections jumping to Rs 3.90 crores, the movie raked in Rs 11.04 crores in its opening weekend, almost neck to neck with the comedy.
Leading exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi sees the success of the two films as build-up on the winning streaks of other smaller films at the BO, “Commando & Nautanki Saala have both helped the trade sustain the momentum that Chashme Baddoor had generated last week by drawing excellent numbers over the weekend! While Nautanki Saala has grown steadily at the multiplexes, Commando has shown a rather strange trend – The smaller the center, the better the occupancy” said he.
Well, it seems both the movies are being loved and watched by the audiences, and will recover their money at the box office! Watch this space for more updates.
