Priyanka Chopra to do an item song in Shootout At Wadala

The Chopra chick has finally given her nod to an item song is Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Wadala, and we wonder why
Priyanka Chopra hasn’t been a part of any item numbers till now. She did do a special appearance in a song with Shahrukh Khan in Billu and a dhinchaak song with Sanjay Dutt in Plan (2004), but those were hardly item numbers.



She didn’t seem very keen to add item numbers to her resume…until now of course! We guess the fact that her arch-rival Kareena Kapoor received rave reviews for her item songs - Halkat Jawani and Dil Mera muft ka - got PC thinking about giving the whole item dancing routine an earnest try.

Vidya Balan, Katrina Kaif and Kareena have quite successfully given their own whacky edge to an item song. And we guess PC didn’t want to lag behind when it comes to proving her credentials as an item gal, and this might be one of the reasons why Pri took up this assignment.

We also hear that Bipasha Basu was earlier approached for this role, but when she discovered that ex-beau John Abraham would also be around, Basu opted out of the project without thinking twice. Well looks like Bipasha’s loss is PC’s gain, and let’s hope the number adds another feather to her cap! Let’s hope this item number is neither vulgar nor lame like a lot of recent songs have been!
